Could not get out today. Here are the hens from last year.
Staghorn Sumac is ready at least here in Erie. To tell just crush some berries in your mouth and you will get a sharp lemon favor. To make Sumac-ade just add cold water to some horns an leave in the refrigerator over night and add sugar. Warm or hot water will make it bitter. Crushing the berries and playing with the amount of Sumac you use till you get just the favor you want. You can also add the berries to meats and salads it goes especially well with fish. Last but not least if you make beer they are a great flavor to add wheat beers. (After primary fermentation)
