Did my first forge welded knife. I joined a railroad spike to a old piece of tractor rake I found in the back yard. It gave me more steel to work with and the rake is high carbon so it will hold a wicked edge. This one turned out how I wanted it to, for the most part. Even kind of matches my style of wood work.
Hair pin
Made a hair slide clip while working on a new knife.
Rigging knife
Finished a rigging knife for a friend. No tips allowed on the Brig Niagra. Really only my second wooden handle looks way better than my first.
Pruning the trees
In Erie PA in January to get a sunny 44 deg day with no snow means we have chance to prune the fruit trees and grapes without a snowsuit. After the January we had 44 is tee shirt weather for me. All the kids helped and even the chicken got in on it. Great to be out in the sun.

Nettles for dinner
I went out foraging along the riverside. It’s a great place to find nettles. These particular nettles are are called woods nettles and they have a broader leaf than the standard stinging nettle. When young they have a good flavor and are extremely healthy. In the first picture, I have both nettle and jewelweed the juice of the jewelweed can remove the sting or burn of the nettle. If applied quickly. I pick nettles by hand grabbing the tips from the back and snapping them off. My fingers are calloused enough not to be affected but if yours are not just rub some jewelweed on from time to time to stop the sting. Cook them like you would spinach the heat will knock out the chemical that causes the sting.
Archery stand
Made a bow stand after dinner needs cleaned up but worked out well for a first try.
Jewelry
Experimenting with jewelry while working on a new knife. It’s probably not practical for anyone outside of a medieval fair…. So probably need to start taking My wifey some of those.
